Communion with our Lord
(1 Cor 10:16).
1 Cor 10:16
The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ?
The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?
KJV
is the focus of the Sunday morning worship service.
As we find the early Christians did in
Acts 20:7
Acts 20:7 And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight. KJV
, we do each first day of the week... coming together to remember
the death and resurrection of Jesus until he comes again
(1 Cor 11:26).
1 Cor 11:26
For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the
Lord's death till he come.
KJV
The elements we use in observing the Lord's Supper are the same as those
Jesus instituted on the night he was betrayed
(1 Cor 11:23-25).
1 Cor 11:23-25
23 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you,
That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:
24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat:
this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.
25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped,
saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye,
as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.
KJV
. Unleavened bread, his body
(Luke 22:19).
And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them,
saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.
KJV
, and fruit of the vine, his blood of the New Testament
(Matt 26:27-28).
And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;
For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the
remission of sins.
KJV
.
At South Jacksonville, we sing a song and say some words to focus the congregation
on The Lord's death and resurrection. After giving thanks for the bread and
fruit of the vine
(Mark 14:23).
And he took the cup, and when he had given thanks,
he gave it to them: and they all drank of it.
KJV
, we serve the Lord's Supper to individuals in their seats.
